RADIATION PLAN APPROVAL
In Ontario, all dental and medical offices, that use X-ray equipment, must have their floor plan approved by the Ministry Of Health and Long Term Care. We provide a complete assessment of your facility, which include a schematic CAD drawing, completion of the necessary government and submissions to the required government offices. Our service provides from start to finish, with a finalized Director of X-ray Safety approval.
To ensure maximum safety to the operators, the public and patients. A complete survey is conducted of the office, and address the need for lead and other attenuating materials. Safety Codes for the National Committee on Radiation Safety (Int), Health Canada (Fed) and Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act (Prov), are used.
Whether a new construction, renovation, adding of equipment or the result of a government order. We cover all aspects of the process.
LEAD CONFIRMATION/REMEDIATION
Not all walls require lead, other attenuation materials are adequate for the safety of employees, operators and the public. However, sometimes lead was not installed as required.
In Ontario, shielding is based on Safety Code 20A. Shielding material (lead) must be installed to a height of 2.2 metres (7' 2"). The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care accepts shielding material to a height of 2 metres (6' 6") and in the case of dental partition cabinets a height of 1.8 meters (6') is accepted.
Our services include determining if lead is required and using non-destructive testing (NDT) methods to source lead in the wall. If dental cabinets meet existing criteria, the Safety Code states that shielding be continuous, therefore, if you can see thru the cabinet to the other side then you are not protected.
We provide remedial service to bring shielding up to the required height, install cabinet interlocks and realign extend cabinet inadequacies for greater protection. We are able to offer extensions and borders most time close to the original colour of your existing fixtures.
